Terms of Gifting

DRAFT for review, not legal advice.

Last updated: 2026-10-29

Once beta ends, these terms apply when you buy a gift for someone through a Lockation page. Please read them before you pay.

Beta notice: payments are test payments

  • Lockation is currently in beta. It is not yet fully operational.
  • During beta, payments run in a test mode. They are test payments: no real money is charged and no gift is delivered.
  • Features and data may change or be reset at any time during beta.
  • This applies until Lockation announces the end of beta. The sections below describe how Lockation is intended to work once beta ends.

1. What you are buying

Once beta ends, you are paying for a specific gift chosen from a person's or organisation's page. The page owner is the recipient. We arrange the gift through our vendors and couriers.

2. All payments are final

Once beta ends, all payments are final. We do not offer refunds once a gift is paid for. By ticking the box at checkout you confirm that you understand this.

This applies even if the recipient takes a long time to respond, chooses a delivery date far ahead, or never confirms receipt.

3. What happens after you pay

  • You receive a receipt by email. That is the only message we send you automatically.
  • The recipient picks where and when the gift is delivered. You do not choose or see the delivery address, date or time.
  • If the recipient does not respond in good time, our team contacts them and decides how to proceed. We do not promise any particular outcome.
  • The recipient may choose to send you a thank-you message. If they do not, you will not hear from us again about this gift.

4. Your details and privacy

  • We use your email address only to send your receipt and to contact you about your payment if needed. It is never shown to the recipient.
  • You may give your name or stay anonymous. A message you write is shown to the recipient either way. If you stay anonymous, the recipient sees "Anonymous" and your message.
  • We keep the recipient's delivery details private from you, and yours from them.
  • Lockation is built to protect privacy, but we cannot promise complete anonymity.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Paystack. We do not see or store your card details. During beta, Paystack is used in test mode only.

6. Corrections we may make

If a payment is confirmed after the gift was already withdrawn from sale, or you are charged twice for the same gift by mistake, we will correct it by refunding the affected payment. This is a correction of an error, not a refund option.

7. Prices and availability

Prices are shown in the currency on the page at the time you pay. Gifts are supplied by third-party vendors and are subject to availability.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force when you pay applies to that payment.

9. Contact

Questions about a payment: contact Lockation support (contact address to be added before launch).
